Dodgers News: Gavin Stone Recalled as Righty Reliever Placed on IL
Before Monday’s game against the Padres, the Dodgers announced a couple of roster moves. First, as expected, rookie pitcher Gavin Stone was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma to start in place of Clayton Kershaw tonight at Dodger Stadium. In a corresponding move, veteran reliever Wander Suero was placed on the 15-day injured list with lower back tightness.
Suero had just joined the club for the finale in Washington and allowed 1 run over 1.1 innings pitched on Sunday. In 5 games with LA this season, he’s allowed 7 runs over 8 innings.
Stone joins the active roster for the fourth time this season and has struggled to find a rhythm at the big league level. He’s posted a 10.50 ERA over 5 appearances (3 starts) with LA this season. The 24-year-old has been much better at the AAA level and is coming off a scoreless 6 inning appearance last week.
