Shohei Ohtani Reveals When It Finally Hit Him That He Was a Member of the Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is getting acquainted with his new team. The Dodgers’ 10-year, $700 million investment has been investing in himself, working out at Dodger Stadium practically since the day he signed in December. This week, he’s been spotted in Arizona at the Dodgers’ Camelback Ranch complex.

However, it’s only just setting in for Ohtani that he is now a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. When asked at DodgerFest last weekend when it hit him that he was a Dodger, Ohtani replied, “Actually, right now.”

It’s hard not to start feeling like a Dodger at DodgerFest, with a frenzy of fans and media coming to see and hear the players speak. There was, of course, extra excitement and a huge amount of people lined up to see Ohtani, the prized free agent addition. Even though tickets weren’t free this year, 35,000 were sold, according to the team.

Ohtani has been adjusting to a new organization after spending the entirety of his MLB career (2018-23) with the Angels. In Anaheim, Ohtani was a three-time MLB All-Star, a two-time American League MVP, four-time All-MLB first-team, and the AL home run leader in 2023.

Prior to his MLB career, Ohtani was a five-time All-Star in Nippon Pro Baseball and the Pacific League MVP with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

Ohtani seems to be adjusting well so far, setting an example for his teammates with his offseason work ethic before group workouts even begin. Several of his teammates have taken notice.
