Dodgers News: Brandon Gomes Confident in Gavin Lux Heading into 2024 Season

Over the last few years, the Los Angeles Dodgers have had superstars take the helm at shortstop. Guys like Trea Turner, Manny Machado and Corey Seager have had great success there, and their new shortstop will look for the same type of success.

Dodgers’ former top prospect and new everyday shortstop Gavin Lux will look to make his mark, and it will all start in 2024.

The team, including Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes, has expressed confidence in Lux as he heads into his first year as the L.A. shortstop.

Lux was supposed to be the everyday shortstop in 2023, but he tore his ACL in late February during Spring Training.

Now, barring anything unforeseen, Lux will be the guy at shortstop. He will join the likes of Max Muncy at third base, Freddie Freeman at first base and Mookie Betts at second base in the infield.

The beauty of adding Lux to the lineup is he only needs to be himself. Lux will not be pressured to perform like a top player because of the plethora of stars Los Angeles possesses. Guys like Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernández will be looked at to come up big.

He’s shown he can be a big-time player when needed, and he could still be that. However, there will be no pressure on him at the start of the season. All he needs to do is defend and hit the best he can, and the Dodgers will be fine.

The reassurance by Gomes and the team should go a long way for Lux.
