Dodgers News: Max Muncy Remains Out of Lineup With Shoulder Injury

The Dodgers are getting set for Tuesday’s series opener against the Marlins in Miami, but they won’t have their power-hitting slugger in the lineup.

Max Muncy, who left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, is not back in the lineup for LA on Tuesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said it wouldn’t be an IL situation for Muncy, but he’s clearly not yet ready to return to the lineup and start swinging.

Will Smith is in at DH, while Austin Barnes is catching and Kiké Hernandez is playing third base. Here’s the full lineup for LA behind Clayton Kershaw.

Dave Roberts did speak to reporters ahead of Tuesday’s game, and said Muncy swung a bat today and doesn’t think the shoulder issue is serious. However, Muncy isn’t available today as a pinch-hitter.

We’ll have to continue to monitor the Muncy situation and hope that, like Roberts is saying, it’s not a serious injury that could require an IL.

On the year, Muncy has hit 32 home runs and 91 runs batted in with an OPS of .816. Despite the low batting average, it’s been a great bounce back year for the Dodgers cleanup hitter.
