Dodgers vs Mets: Latest Betting Odds, Predictions and Picks for September 1

The Dodgers and Mets have split the first two games of this series and the first six games of their season series, so the bragging rights all come down to this afternoon’s series finale in New York.

The Dodgers won a one-run game on Tuesday night, and the Mets returned the favor last night. Today’s series finale pits the returning Clayton Kershaw against Chris Bassitt of the Mets.

Kershaw hasn’t pitched in four weeks after leaving his August 4 start against the Giants with a lower-back issue. The pain has been gone for weeks, and Kershaw has been built back up with an eye on having him totally ready for the postseason. He is 7-3 with a 2.64 ERA in 15 starts this season.

Bassitt has been very good in his first season in New York, posting an 11-7 record and a 3.34 ERA. His strikeout rate is down a bit from last year with Oakland, but he makes up for it by inducing more grounders and limiting hard contact. The Dodgers faced Bassitt in June and handed him a loss, scoring three runs in six innings.
